About Me
A native of Massachusetts, Rebecca Cosloy, KPA CPT, has been training and caring for dogs since 2002. A lover of all animals, Rebecca shares her 1880 Victorian home in Marlboro with four clicker trained dogs and one very tolerant clicker trained cat. The furry family consists of Daisy, a 16 year old shelter cat, Princess, a 14 year old rescued American Eskimo Dog, Elmo, a 13 year old shelter American Eskimo Dog, 13.5 year old Papillon, Mitzi, and latest addition, Jacx, a 20 month old Papillon rescued at just 20 weeks with his littermates in Oklahoma.
Specializing in reactivity, fear and fear-based aggression, Rebecca brings her unique perspective to training all dogs with sensitivity and compassion. A proud Graduate with Distinction from the Dog Training Professional Program in January of 2015, she was awarded the coveted KPA CTP designation (Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner). Founded by behavioral biologist Karen Pryor, a pioneer of modern training, the internationally acclaimed academy teaches positive–reinforcement animal training with innovative programs designed for experienced and highly motivated trainers. The course combines online learning with hands-on instruction from some of the best teachers in the field.
In 2011 Rebecca was offered an apprenticeship under the tutelage of world-renowned behavior consultant, speaker and author, Emma Parsons. Rebecca continued to learn from Parsons and joined the ranks of her assistants in Reactive and Control Unleashed classes through 2014, when she enrolled in Karen Pryor Academy with Parsons as instructor.
Rebecca is one of just a handful of trainers in the state who are members of The Pet Professional Guild (PPG). A member since its’ inception in 2012, the PPG is a world wide organization for pet professionals based upon force- free philosophies as applicable to our contact and lives with animals and their humans. Pet Professional Guild members understand force-free to mean: no shock, pain, fear, physical force, physical molding, or compulsion based methods and no compromise in the above.
When not working Rebecca enjoys Agility and Nosework with her own dogs and when time allows volunteers with several rescue groups and training organizations.
